Instructors

John C. Blackshire, Jr., CPA is the CEO of The Accountware Group, Inc. (TAG). He has over 30 years of business management, internal control, software development and auditing experience. TAG helps companies improve their business processes, implement financial systems, and comply with the requirements of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.

During John's career, he has conducted internal control audits, designed business operations, implemented automated financial systems, and created quality control methodologies. He has written numerous articles, system user guides, presented continuing education seminars, and published booklets on best practices in accounting, finance and information technology management.

John received his undergraduate degree in accounting from the University of South Carolina. He is a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) and helped plan their International Conference, and is a member of the international business fraternity Delta Sigma Pi and the honor’s accounting fraternity Beta Alpha Psi. John and David Marshall have been presenting informative and entertaining seminars on internal control, corporate governance and Sarbanes-Oxley Act compliance since 2003.

Clark S. Colvin, PhD & MPA in Public Administration, MBA, Harvard Business School, Corporate Restructuring Program, LT USN (Ret.), is CEO of CSC Capital Group. Previously he taught at three U.S. universities, consultant with management consulting firms, and recognized as a restructuring expert. Graduate of University of Washington, Seattle University, Golden Gate University, Oxford University, U.S. Naval War College, University of London, St. Arthur D. Little School of Management, and the Amsterdam Institute of Finance. He served aboard a Nuclear Submarine and was honorably discharged as a Lieutenant, U.S. Navy.

Clark is a graduate life member of the Naval War College Foundation, a life member of The Newcomen Society of the United States, a life member of the American Association of Individual Investors, a friend of the American Philosophical Society, and a sponsor of The Cato Institute. Additionally, he was a founding member of the Society of the United States Constitution, and since 1983 has been a member of the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars. An avid book collector, (his personal and business libraries combined have over 5000 volumes), and a worldwide traveler. He is also a member of The Folio Society, and is an associate of The Explorers Club.

Danny M. Goldberg, CPA, CIA, CISA, CGEIT, CCSA is the founding Partner of SOFT Audit Consulting. Previously, Danny was an Internal Audit Director/CAE for two public companies in the Dallas Fort Worth area. He has extensive Sarbanes-Oxley compliance experience in addition to internal and external audit. His experience also includes the establishment of internal audit and SOX compliance departments (3 over the past 6 years). Danny began his auditing career with a Big 4 accounting firm after receiving a BS - Accounting and a MS - Finance from Texas A&M University.

He has served on the board of directors of a non-profit organization, audit committee of a large independent school district and is currently on the audit committee of a non-profit organization.

Danny is a published author and speaker at many trade conferences. He most recently was published in Volume 6 of the ISACA Journal Online (December 2009) titled "Is this the Year to Automate SOX?".

He has also been published in the IIA Internal Auditor. "The SOFT Approach to Auditing," appears in the August 2007 issue of the Internal Auditor and discusses the positive affects AS 5 can have on internal auditors. "Focus on High-risk Controls" appears in the December 2007 issue and outlines a general approach on how to apply AS 5 proactively in public companies and has been adopted by many companies around the United States.

David S. Marshall, MBA, CISA, CFE is a Principal with Infotech Global, a provider of audit, compliance, IT and training services. With over 20 years of experience, he is an expert in internal control, the Sarbanes-Oxley Act and information technology. He has assisted numerous companies, from startups to multinationals, improve their operations by strengthening their internal control programs and complying with Sarbanes-Oxley, as well as providing IT auditing, computer security and fraud prevention training.

During his career, Dave has performed financial, operational and IT audits, security assessments, fraud investigations, financial and manufacturing system implementations, and regulatory compliance assistance. He headed up the IT Audit Consulting group at one of the largest aerospace and defense contractors in the United States, where he conducted enterprise risk assessments, audits, network penetrations, program effectiveness studies, business continuity reviews, fraud examinations, and financial data analysis using IDEA software. Prior to that, he was a senior manager in the management consulting practice of a Big 4 accounting firm, where he performed similar services to Fortune 500 companies, banks and agencies. Dave helped to develop the firms Audit methodology, participated in writing the Institute of Internal Auditors’ System Auditability and Control Guidelines, and conducted quality assurance reviews of internal and external audit groups.

He has an MBA degree, and is a Certified Information Systems Auditors (CISA) and a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE). He is a member and past board director of the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA), is a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) and helped organize the IIA International Conference, and is a Board member of the Chicago Chapter of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE). Mr. Marshall and Mr. Blackshire have been presenting informative and entertaining seminars on internal control, corporate governance and Sarbanes-Oxley Act compliance since 2004.
