Internal Audit Basic Training Weeks
CCS is providing a classroom training week on the best practices for the new internal auditor. We focus on the tradecraft that is needed to be a successful internal auditor or compliance professional.
This seminar week focuses on helping the new internal auditor to understand the basics of internal auditing. Attendees will learn how to prepare, perform, report, and close an audit. It is an ideal way for new auditors, those preparing to be on an audit team, and groups who will soon be audited to understand the auditing process.
This week of seminars provides an overview of the "audit life cycle", "internal control framework" and corporate fraud. The week includies audit planning and risk assessment, conducting fieldwork, interviews, walkthroughs and tests of controls, and audit reporting and follow-up. We provide the latest guidance for a risk-based, top-down audit approach, key audit terminology and audit workpaper documentation.
There is a concentrated discussion of the proper internal audit tradecraft which, within the internal audit community, refers to the techniques used in modern internal auditing and generally, the activity of internal audits. This includes general topics or techniques (risk assessments and interviewing auditees, for example), or the specific techniques of IIA Standards or organization (the particular sample size chart being used by the organization, for example).
This week of training allows the attendee to structure the training week to specific needs. We are offering the following stand-alone seminars:
- Internal Audit Basic Training (24 CPEs)
- COSO 2013: The Sequel (8 CPEs)
- "Frauditing" Fraud Detection & Prevention (8 CPEs)
Our instructors have brought to this set of seminars an advanced set of audit and business knowledge. We work with the attendees to provide an understanding of basic audit skills. These programs are for the new internal auditor or compliance staff member. We also see a number of non-auditors who have internal control responsibilities and need to learn the ins-and-outs of internal controls and their testing.
The combination of the above seminars covers the following auditor tradecraft:
- Risk assessment and internal controls,
- Internal control documentation and testing,
- Audit planning elements and process,
- Audit fieldwork and interviewing methodologies,
- Audit issue documentation and audit fieldwork documentation,
- Audit report writing,
- Selling change.
